Privacy Policy
GoodTill ("we", "our") is built and operated by Steve Kao, an independent developer based in Hong Kong. This policy explains what data the GoodTill mobile app handles. Short version: your coupons live on your phone. We don't make you register, we don't sell data, and we don't track you across apps.
1. Data stored on your device
Everything you save in GoodTill — coupons, gift cards, receipts, warranties, photos, notes, reminder settings — is stored locally on your device (SQLite database and app-private photo storage). We do not operate user accounts, so there is no server-side copy of your wallet.
Deleting the app deletes this data. There is no "request my data" flow because there is no account holding it anywhere else.
2. Data sent to third parties
AI extraction (Google Gemini API). By tapping Scan, you agree to this transfer for the sole purpose of extracting the item's details. When you scan a coupon, a compressed copy of the photo is sent to Google's Gemini API to read the merchant, dates, codes and terms.
How it travels: when you scan, the app sends the compressed photo to our API relay, which forwards it to Google and returns the extracted text. The relay does not store your photos or the extracted data — it only passes the request through.
We use Google's Gemini API under Google's API terms applicable to our account. Google states that content sent through its paid API tier is not used to train its models.
Full-resolution photos never leave your device — only the compressed copy needed for extraction.
Providing a photo for scanning is voluntary. Purpose: AI extraction of merchant, dates, codes and terms. Your photo may be transferred to Google LLC (United States) solely for this processing.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law.
Nothing else leaves the device. No analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, no cross-app tracking as of this version. If that changes (e.g. ads at scale), this policy will be updated first.
3. Retention
Your data stays on your device until you delete the item or the app. Copies sent to Google for extraction are retained under Google's own terms (see Google's Privacy Policy) — we keep no copy ourselves.
4. Security
Your on-device data is protected by your phone's app sandbox. Transfers to Google use encrypted (TLS) connections.
5. Notifications
Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your phone. No reminder data is sent to any server.
6. Location
The current version does not collect location. A future opt-in "remind me near this store" feature would use on-device geofencing only; this policy will be updated before any such feature ships.
7. Children
GoodTill is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Since the app holds no accounts or server-side data, there is nothing to request or delete beyond uninstalling the app.
8. If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom
Our lawful basis for sending a scan to Google is your consent, given when you tap Scan. Because your data stays on your device, you exercise your rights of access, correction and erasure directly in the app (edit or delete the item; deleting the app removes everything). Contact us if you need help.
9. Changes to this policy
If the policy changes materially, the app will surface the update (e.g. in Settings) before the change takes effect. The current version is always available on this page.
